Ramp-up guide
Why results fluctuate in the first 7 to 14 days
Last updated: October 2026
When we launch or restructure your campaigns, Google and Meta both go through a calibration period. This guide explains what you will see during it, what we do and don't do about it, and when to expect stable numbers.
What is happening
When we launch or restructure your campaigns, both advertising platforms enter a calibration period. Meta's AI reads each ad and learns which kinds of people respond to it. Google's bidding learns what a valuable click looks like for your business.
During this window you may see:
- Cost per lead or sale swinging from day to day.
- Spend favouring some ads over others.
- Quiet days followed by strong days.
This is normal. The systems are doing their job.
Why we don't change things early
Major changes to budgets, ads or targets restart the calibration. The most common way small and medium-sized accounts damage their own performance is constant fiddling in the first week.
We make changes on evidence thresholds, not nerves. Every rule in our system requires an ad to have spent enough to be statistically meaningful before it acts.
What we monitor from day one
Our automated monitoring watches your account around the clock for:
- Overspend and underdelivery.
- Rejected or disapproved ads.
- Tracking signal health.
- Genuinely extreme cost deviations.
- Account status.
Anything genuinely wrong, such as a rejected ad, broken tracking or spend running away, is flagged and actioned the same day. Anything that needs judgement goes to a person first.
The timeline
| Period | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Days 1 to 5 | The heaviest fluctuation. We draw no conclusions. |
| Days 7 to 14 | Results stabilise and the first reliable patterns appear. |
| End of month 1 | Your baseline is set and you receive your first benchmarked summary. |
| Months 2 and 3 | Typically the strongest efficiency gains, as optimisation and the monthly creative refresh build on each other. |
In short: fluctuation is normal and stabilisation is expected. We optimise at the right time, not too early and not too late.
